Refusing to authorize a society for the homosexuals

"Fact International" - By Omar Al Abbadi

Amman – Mohammad Ibdah, Director of the Western Amman Social Development Department, refused a request which had been submitted by some youth two days ago to establish a society for homosexuals.

“The society’s aims are against the general morals’ law and contradict with Jordanian customs and traditions,” Ibdah explained.

In an exclusive statement to "Fact International", he said, "All the Departments and Divisions of the Ministry will not accept or deal with requests which threaten the values of Jordanian society. Besides, their thoughts are against our religion.”

Ibdah said that the youth summarized the aims of the society as:

  • Seeking psychological guidance
  • Prevention of the spread of sexual diseases
  • Education in the field of the transmission of STDs

Ibdah clarified that the Directorate will convene a meeting to discuss the issue and its dimensions toward the Jordanian society.

"Fact International" indicated through its website and the press, on 9 April 2008, that there are approximately 1500 homosexuals in Jordan, 95% of whom are adults. They established an international website to spread their ‘evil’ thoughts. Religious leaders demanded that they be rebuked.

The main heading of the report was "the homosexuals in Jordan are reorganizing themselves and planning to occupy political positions!"
